Povaleč is not just about bands, theatre and summer vibes. Once again, the beautiful Church of the Holy Trinity in Valeč will host a series of concerts proving that classical music is anything but old-fashioned. And because Povaleč always has a surprise up its sleeve, one more performance has been confirmed at the very last minute.
On Thursday, 7 August at 12:00, violinist Markéta Janoušková opens the programme with her solo recital L’Astre Bleu. Performing without accompaniment, she will take the audience on a journey from Bach and Telemann to music of the 20th and 21st centuries. A regular guest on some of Europe’s finest stages, Janoušková will reveal just how many colours and stories a single violin can tell.
At 3:00 PM, the Prague mixed choir Gaudium Pragense joins the festival in a last-minute addition to the programme. Under the direction of the young conductor František Loder, the choir will perform works by Bach, Fauré and Gardiner. If your only memory of choral singing comes from school music lessons, this concert is likely to change your mind.
The evening continues at 6:00 PM with Duo Affettico – violinist Ludmila Pavlová and guitarist Filip Kudelásek. Their programme blends Piazzolla, Ravel, film music and even The Beatles. In other words: the perfect concert for anyone who thinks classical music and a relaxed summer evening don’t belong together.
On Friday, 8 August, the series concludes with Music for a While, featuring soprano Irena Troupová and organist Jiřina Marešová. Expect Purcell, Monteverdi, Baroque masterpieces and improvisations created on the spot. No playback, no algorithm – just music, imagination and moments that will never happen in quite the same way again.
