COLD COLD NIGHTS
The band has been active on the independent music scene since 2015. Their debut album, *The Last Summer*, received positive reviews from critics and listeners alike, as did their second album, *Ten Years Later* (2022). For the EP French Ship, they collaborated with producer Yasha96. Compared to their previous work, they place greater emphasis on electronic elements and synthesizers; guitars and trumpets have taken a backseat, and the sound is more straightforward and focused on vocal melodies. Known for their intimate concert atmosphere, they’ve prepared a new stage design for their shows based on last year’s recording.

The band will bring their classic songs to life while also showcasing new material—even after three decades, they remain just as progressive and vibrant as ever.

Fvck_Kvlt
Trnava-based punk artist Denis Bango has been making waves on the Slovak and Czech music scenes for several years now. Raw, honest lyrics and genre-hopping have been central to his work ever since the albums Zabijem sa! and Cigán. His latest album, Mrtvá revolúcia, brings him two steps closer to his long-term vision than his previous efforts. An experimental text titled Manifest mrtvé revolúcie was released alongside the album, which encapsulates the concept of the entire project and is freely available online. Denis performs live with members of the KVLT CREW—VKTRD, Paris, and, most recently, drummer Jakub Spiszak.

Ventolin
The renowned Disco Scientist, known as Ventolin, was conceived in the mind of anthropologist David Doubek back in 2007. His high-energy show is brought to life by a diverse array of instruments, such as old samplers, analog synthesizers, and archaic drum machines. Ventolin is a lover of the primitive sound of Detroit techno, Italian disco, and an Indian disco style called “šrumbabumba” from the 1880s, played primarily by clapping one’s hands on a bald head.

He assembled a group of musicians whose personalities clearly demonstrated the necessary passion to participate in this musical project, which draws on jazz, rock, metal, rap, and electronic music. All band members share the following: a love for beer, for laid-back vibes, for the thousandth cig, for September and October and November and other months, for cream rolls, and above all for songs that bring it all together in one big musical blast. The Stage of Nadnárodní divadlo means the world. Mom and William Valerián are always right.
Sedno (PL)
A blend of jazz and electronic music? We love it. Live instruments played by masters, paired with dance beats, a club sound, and a party vibe. That’s the Polish quartet Sedno, who are coming to us from Wrocław. We believe that all listeners will be satisfied—both music analysts pondering harmonic progressions and admiring instrumental sophistication, and musical hedonists who don’t worry about a thing and just let themselves be carried away by the energy radiating from the stage. Both approaches are valid, and Sedno excels at both.

Controlled destruction and self-destruction will tear the pants off the Povaleč festival crowd for the second time. Just a year ago, it seemed that this cult Prague-Brno quartet would never step onto a stage again. But they rose from the ashes like a mythical phoenix, ready to show once more what hardcore punk is all about.
“Anger is energy” is the refrain of one of their songs, and they prove that they truly live by this mantra. Massive riffs, unstoppable drums, and emotion-fueled vocals — that’s Matter Tua. So fucking remember it!

Out there, everything is changing. These are tough times, and one crisis follows another. The weight of life bears down on all of us, without exception. And that’s why there’s this talk show—after which everything will be all right again. If not in the world, then at least within ourselves.

Punk sweeps away the weight, opening the door to catharsis. At times, no one will know what’s going on. But in the end, relief and a sigh of relief will set in.

Slut
The Prague-based noise-psychedelic band SLUT, whose roots date back to the early ’90s, last performed at Povalec three years ago, when they presented material from their then-newly released album *Spirit of Brotherhood*. This year, they’ll be bringing new tracks from their brand-new album *Soul Booster*, and by all accounts, we can once again look forward to their distinctive hypnotic, heavy-hitting sound—sometimes likened to a steam locomotive at full speed.
Slut represent one of the most substantial offerings of alternative rock coming out of the Czech Republic. The fewer overtly catchy melodies there are, the greater the depth of their carefully crafted atmosphere.
Heavy guitar tones define the gravity of their current work, which is not so much a continuation of their hardcore beginnings as it is a distinctive brand of rock with elements of industrial and post-metal. In their grime and rawness, Slut are at the same time a colorful manifesto of a solid identity, set against the gray reality of our impersonal and sterile world.

Tereza Kocholatá
Tereza Kocholatá is a Czech artist who works across the fields of music, film, and installation. After moving to England to study art and find a way to afford to be an artist without making excuses, her visual projects naturally gave way to music. For her, the voice is her primary instrument, and songs are a space where feelings can remain unresolved. In her work, she prioritizes intimacy, rawness, and humanity over perfection and spectacle. As an instinctive nonconformist, she remains distrustful of authority and close to those who challenge it.

The workshop will culminate in a collective original performance that will become an organic part of the evening's Baroque Revel.

Plav: Destroy the Bridge! Italian Comebacks
“It was getting dark, and a light breeze blew over the ocean current heading toward the low foothills.”
Plav, the monthly magazine for world literature, is back at Povalec! This time, it focuses on contemporary literature and political tensions in modern-day Italy. A theatrical performance in the spirit of opera. The popular duo of literary and performance “smugglers,” Messo & Mucil /mesˈso e muˈtʃil/, will blend Italian and Czech. Accompanied by the sounds and noises of their memories of an Italy irretrievably lost and one that never existed, they will perform with the beach ensemble údk.
The event is made possible thanks to the support of the State Cultural Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Illustration by Finn Stiller. Quotations from Stefan D’Arrigo’s *Horcynus Orca*.

Where does the Colorado River flow?
Often referred to as the “American Nile” or the “hardest-working river in the western United States”—the Colorado River, known for its flow through the Grand Canyon and the monumental Hoover Dam, among other things—is undeniably a vital river on which more than 40 million people, including residents of Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, and other cities, directly depend. Water from the river enables Americans to prosper, produce food, and transform an arid region into a veritable oasis. However, due to intensive human use, the river has not flowed into the ocean for several decades, and the current water shortage is creating a complex situation for the seven U.S. states that depend on the river and for Mexico, where the river has its delta.
The lecture traces the historical development of water allocation from the river and then addresses the current issue of water scarcity in the western United States. Through a case study, it offers insight into the complex issue of freshwater use, which can serve as a catalyst for recognizing its value—not only in the United States, but also in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in the world.
The lecture will be given by American studies scholar Jeroným Vnouček, who has visited the western United States and explored the topic of the Colorado River in his bachelor’s thesis.

Gaudium Pragense
Gaudium Pragense is a Prague mixed choir with a long tradition and a strong emphasis on high-quality choral singing, which is committed to music from the Renaissance to the present. Today, the choir is moving from its strong Baroque base to a broader and more diverse repertoire, in which it wants to discover less frequently performed compositions that you will not hear at concerts.
Since autumn 2024, the choir has been led by František Loder, a young conductor and representative of the emerging generation, who brings new energy and artistic impulse to its activities. His goal is to continue the tradition of the choir and at the same time develop it towards a lively, exploratory and listener-attractive program.

Citáty z neexistujících knih
There are countless books in the world. However, there are far more that have never existed and never will. And it is precisely because of them that a community of researchers has emerged—men and women who, using their precise tools and methods, explore, unearth, and examine these books so they can share them with the public in the form of quotes and excerpts. After all, it would be a great shame if you could never read even a single line from nonexistent books.
Come listen to the author read the most interesting quotes that researchers share in the Facebook group or on the Instagram profile “Quotes from Nonexistent Books.”

Chvála automobilismu (Jeden den v životě závodníka)
It’s unbearably hot, forests are burning, festivals are being canceled. The wives of billionaires are giving investment advice to the poor. The poor applaud the rich so they can get even richer. Everyone is drenched in sweat. In a huge, scorching parking lot, we worship a gigantic car and, one by one, stick our heads into the exhaust pipe to cool off. The Minister of Culture sits in an air-conditioned car with tinted windows, revving the engine. Everyone applauds. Children and retirees cool off in inflatable pools. We’re getting blisters; a cyclist is being sacrificed. A totally realistic satire told from the perspective of moles. Or maybe something completely different. In any case, an apocalypse — the Book of Revelation for the age of oligarchs.

Kruh 19 + kapela
It all started with the song “Dinosaur,” which became a viral hit and racked up over a million streams. Friends Vojta and Damián followed up on that success with the EP *Noční tramvaj 93* (Night Tram 93), which evokes a ride from Berlin to Lazarská and explores the feelings of a late-night journey home, telling stories of the strange fates of people getting on and off the tram, and of relationships that are perhaps more fragile in the early morning hours than ever before.
They already performed at Povalč in 2023, acoustically on the Busker Stage, but this year they’ll take the stage as an expanded four-piece band, joined by drummer Václav Švestka and bassist Ondra Volf.

Frankie and the Deadbeats
These nomads with roots in the Czech countryside honor and artfully blend classic American country with the wildness of their hearts. They convey the stories etched into their faces and souls like wrinkles through dark songs that envelop listeners and never let them go.
They made their debut in 2021 with their first full-length album, *The Shining*. Exactly two years later, they released their second studio album, *The Possibility That Love Is Not Enough*. The banjo, trumpet, and piano take their approach to country music a step further.

LVMEN
For the first time ever, Povalec will feature a band that was already a cult favorite 20 years ago, back when this festival didn’t even exist yet. And now, the fresh recipients of the Anděl Award will take the stage on Saturday at Áčko, the main stage, to show everyone what post-metal is all about.
Since the 1990s, Lvmen have been synonymous with pure darkness. Their music is a carefully constructed collage of emotions, silence, and sudden sonic explosions. Samples from *Markéta Lazarová* and other classic films break up repetitive passages that lull listeners into a trance, only to subsequently crush them with a massive wall of guitars.

Ecstatic melodies, dreamlike worlds, playful songwriting, and meticulous production define this five-piece band, which has been active on the European scene since 2021. A contagiously laid-back atmosphere, a playful approach to sound, and delicate melodies that tell imaginative stories form the musical world that Island Mint has built from the ground up in their own image. MUTANTS SEEK A WAY OUT
They share a love of soccer and theater, and they make electro alternative hip-hop, even though only one of them grew up on hip-hop. They create independent music videos, organize concerts in bizarre venues, and raise money for Ukraine so they can once again give their friends nothing but their music for Christmas. Last year they released an album whose title suggests that, even in their prime, they’re already experiencing a midlife crisis.

Kaplick & Saku
More than 25 years on the scene, more than 25 years dedicated to breakbeat. Kaplick & Saku were there at its local beginnings when the genre was just being born, and to this day, they remain among its most prominent ambassadors. They have played hundreds of club nights and festivals both at home and abroad. They remember the legendary broken beat events at Roxy under the Breaksome banner, as well as the regular Dobrejk Večery at Cross Club. And above all: for more than two decades, they have been broadcasting their Breakbeat Conference show every two weeks on Radio 1. Their sets bring together breaks, UKG, bass, electro, acid, and broken techno—always with an emphasis on groove and energy. One thing hasn't changed in those 25 years: their love for broken beats. And that is most likely eternal.

OOZ Orchestra
This multigenerational ensemble, featuring a distinctive and diverse horn section, carries on the Hanspaul musical tradition and its natural blend of rock ’n’ roll, blues, reggae, and ska. The band draws on its own lyrics, a sense of humor, lively energy, and an atmosphere that feels just as at home in a pub, on the street, or on stage. A closed bar means about as much to them as closing time does, because they simply haven’t finished telling their story yet and they don’t feel like sleeping. Their music is playful, straightforward, and positive, and the audience starts moving to it before they even have time to figure out what the abbreviation OOZ actually stands for.

DnR is a band trying to bring back the era when Tony Hawk, Need for Speed, and Jackass were cool. This nu-metal onslaught has adapted to the modern age, mixing electronic, trap, and drum’n’bass flavors into their sonic stew.
Proudly carrying the legacy of early-2000s chaos, DnR have also gone through their own internal conflicts, but eventually settled on a four-member lineup. Two rappers are backed by guitar and drums, complemented by massive samples.

The five-piece band stands out for its intimate vocals, captivating lyrics, and colourful instrumentation, and isn’t afraid to blend genres. They’ve gained touring experience not only in Czech and Slovak clubs but also through regular performances abroad.

God Save the Drama Queen: The Throne Story
The all-female improv group God Save the Drama Queen takes its name from a well-known punk band. Their improv performances are a real blast that will get any festival audience fired up. It’s a theatrical ride—a verbal free-for-all interspersed with songs, dances, and boundless energy. New characters take their place on the imaginary throne, bringing with them new stories that view the world from a female perspective. Nothing is off-limits, nothing is too much, and nothing is too little. In their improvisation, they sensitively strive to respond to the present moment and incorporate into the performance whatever is happening around them at that very instant.
The girls give free rein to all their ideas and emotions, allowing them to blossom in the safe environment of their shared performance
Custom-made soundtrack:
The music for the performance was composed by Tanita Yankova. The actresses play the individual tracks themselves right on stage, without knowing in advance what will be played. They react spontaneously to the music, which serves as an impulse for immediate creativity and a lively, one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

Depka s pěnou
Depka s pěnou—the Konvalinka brothers, sometimes with a drummer, but here just the two of them with guitars.... At our first concert last April, we were described as a unique combination of talent (the younger one) and volume (the older one). Since then, to our own surprise, we’ve written a small stack of songs about things we haven’t experienced or don’t want to experience. Fortunately, we can also pick up the tempo a bit, so the listener doesn’t drown in that depression—there’s a little bit of that beer foam on top.

Blending Beatlesque melodies with a folky sensibility and rootsy Americana vibes, Rustic Revue is all about honest, good old-fashioned songs. Formed after the chance meeting of Slovak songwriter Jacob Arthur and Indonesian musician Pandu Arga in a Toronto music store, the project started its life as a folk duo, releasing their fully unplugged debut EP in 2025. Shortly after, Arthur relocated back to his hometown of Bratislava and reformed the project as a four-piece, with Arga remaining a long-distance collaborator. With a new sound merging acoustic vibes with electric grit, Rustic Revue is currently working on their first full-length album while enchanting audiences with their dynamic live shows. On the Buskerstage, Jacob Arthur will present their songs in a solo acoustic set, returning to the project's folky roots.

Music for a while
Irena Troupová / soprano, Jiřina Marešová / organ positive
A stellar matinee full of baroque music and improvisation.
Music for a while… music for a while, music for pleasure, for kind consolation and encouragement, music that mourns and exults, music capable of expressing every emotion, positive and negative. It can sing anger and sorrow, joy and quiet composure. It resonates with notes composed by ancient masters and gives space for your own interpretation, finishing with ornaments and improvisation.
Let yourself be carried away by the music of Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Claudio Merula and others. Internationally renowned soprano Irena Troupová and leading Czech organist Jiřina Marešová will present baroque evergreens in a strictly stylish and improvisational guise, passacaglia, ciaccona, ground, and most importantly, a whole range of emotions.
Welcome to the magical world of baroque gems!

The leading Czech soprano Irena Troupová first gained international renown in the field of historically informed interpretation of early music. Since the 1990s, when she lived in Berlin, she has performed on stages throughout Europe, collaborating with T. Hengelbrock, H. Arman, J. Riffkin, the Orpheon ensemble, La Morra, etc., and in the Czech Republic with J. Tůma, B. M. Willi, the Ensemble Tourbillon, Musica Florea, and many others. She has gradually expanded her scope to include romantic and modern song and operatic work. She has performed in the cycles of the FOK, Czech Philharmonic and PKF with conductor J. Hrůša, and has repeatedly participated in the Prague Spring, Janáček May, Concentus Moraviae festivals, etc. She participated in the internationally awarded recording of B. Martinů's opera "Le jour de bonté" for the Arco Diva label, for which she also released a complete set of songs by Viktor Ullmann (Schwer ist's, das Schöne zu lassen), orchestral songs by Geraldina Muchová and a complete set of songs by Hans Winterberg. She enjoys experimenting with her voice and therefore also collaborates with ensembles for contemporary music (BCO with P. Šnajder, BERG Orchestra, Prague Modern, Ostravská banda, etc.) and with contemporary composers - M. Kopelent, J. Dušek, P. Koeszeghy, M. Štědroně, P. Kotík and many others. She also devotes herself to the legacy of interwar composers (Schulhoff, von Hannenheim, Herschkowitsch, Klein, Krása, etc.) in concerts at home (recitals at the Prague Spring, Eternal Hope, etc. festivals) and abroad (Bayreuth, Berlin, Munich, Vienna).
Irena Troupová currently teaches at JAMU in the Department of Organ and Historical Interpretation and is a sought-after lecturer at international early music courses.
