The first wave of bands is out! We dare to say that the nineteenth year will be strong and there is a lot to look forward to.
Dreams come true, which is why Bert and Friends are one of this year’s headliners Ejchuchu! We hope they will bring a little bit of the Czech sea to Valeč with their colorful show.
The mention of a big puddle may tempt you to take a trip abroad, but we have decided we would rather invite a few foreign bands to visit us. The multi-instrumentalist hiding under the name pistole, who combines live drums with technology, and the band Transmitter are connected by a certain amount of Germanness, but apart from that, the main links are an incredible dose of energy and a show that will be etched in your memory. The German-English group Transmitter are not that well-known on the domestic scene and we would like to change that at this year’s Povaleč. This is one of our aces up our sleeves and it is not for nothing that we compare them to the legendary Prodigy.
This year too, we try to satisfy all generations of visitors and create a programme where everyone can find something to their liking. We believe that the avant-garde rock band Už jsme doma, which is one of the Povaleč stars, will delight our long-time fans. As will the duo Samoty, who will certainly not offend anyone across age categories with their tramp songs with sharp rock’n’roll and blues.
Younger visitors will undoubtedly be delighted by one of the current leaders of the Czech grime scene, Pain aka Malej Zee.
We have not skimped on rap, which is why this diverse genre will be represented by Gambrz Reprs, Stříbrný Rafael, Matyášovi kamarádi, AGSTASHE and the female duo Hihihahaholky. Each of them does it in their own way – some in Czech, some in English, some adding a bit of punk. But we are sure that they do it well.
We haven’t skipped guitars and other live instruments either! The Prague quartet Madhouse Express is a proof. They will bring their fusion of psychedelia, fuzz and rock’n’roll, which has been captivating the domestic scene in recent years. Another iron in the guitar fire will be the band Fotbal, who in turn combine post-punk with elements of kraut-rock, math-rock, synthesizers and veiled vocals in a novel way.
Povaleč’s line-up also includes new genres. One of them is hyperpop with its controversial representative for many, hiding under the pseudonym Mat213. His arrogant tone and ironic self-parodying lyrics that reflect contemporary society have captivated many listeners, as evidenced by the Vinyl award he received in 2022 in the Discovery of the Year category.
That is all for now, but we are definitely not done yet! You can look forward to a flurry of other big names.
