Povaleč is inevitably approaching and it’s time to introduce the next performers!
We are all looking forward to Amelia Siba – one of the biggest young talents of the Czech alternative scene. She has been making music for ten years now and has undergone a lot of development. She has left her songwriting beginnings behind and on her latest album This May Be the Only Way 2 Heaven she brings a more raw sound that is enriched with metal samples. Declaring an end to the romanticization of sadness and self-destruction, she exudes anger towards stereotypical perceptions of social roles on her latest record. This concert will definitely be worth it!
Treska jednoskvrnná is a postwar classic. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Treska yet – the band walks the line between pop and rock, puts their own distinctive wit into the lyrics and their concerts are one big party. There will be no shortage of pink stilts!
And speaking of rock’n’roll, a rap show full of energy and beer truths? That’s what Gambrz Reprs will offer. This formation has been resonating on the Czech rap scene for some time now and this year they will grace Povaleč with their lean raps about bars in Parma.
SRPR will present a tragicomedy wrapped at times in punk, at times in circus, and at times it just makes you want to cry with sadness. Very distinctive lyrics will take RoPny through a world of madness, sexuality or working class.
A couple of years ago Shallow tore our pants off at the Czech Republic, now their guitarist and vocalist Viktor Ori will return to not only repeat the success of the now defunct band, but to surpass it! The basis of his music is still guitars and drums – but he has enriched them with synths and samples. The album LEPŠIE NEBOLO NIKDY DOBRE NEBUDE does not evoke too many polemical thoughts, but that’s why it’s a perfect mirror of today’s world.
KUF returns from Germany! The Berlin trio combine electronics, jazz and samples of vocals, which the ir keyboardist Tom Schneider live chopped and modulated. The last time they played at Povaleč it was one of the best shows – and we believe they can do it again.
We still stick to the strategy of bringing newcomers to the Czech music scene in addition to the already validated names. Another example will be the fresh four-piece experimental group Syntax Error, which combines musical influences from industrial and electronic to noise rock and shoegaze. Their uncompromising musical set ranges from gentle ambient passages to intense electronic sequences.
If you’re still in the mood for some more of that depression, DROM will surely satisfy it – shredded post-rock mixed with emo. There will be a lot to contemplate at this show. Their last album Pustina didn’t leave one eye dry and the live show will be no different.
For jazz enthusiasts we can only recommend Luciana. The singer Luciana Tomášová reigns over this band with her soulful vocals. Unmistakable lo-fi atmosphere with a mission of softness and hardness at the same time – goosebumps, charisma and lightness.
A guitar case in one hand, the other thumbs up a sunken road in the middle of nowhere. On his feet, he wears scuffed wandering boots and in the back pocket of his jeans, songs scribbled in a scribbled notebook. SAMOTY brings two dusty creamsicles from which new tramp songs pour, tainted with elements of blues and rock’n’roll.
Last but not least, I Love You Honey Bunny returns to Povaleč after quite some time. From a student band, they have become the stalwarts of the Czech indie scene, visiting not only festivals but also studios abroad. Their music balances between euphoria and melancholy and their lyrics reflect social events. The way of creating and thinking about music is essential for the band. Although the members reflect on how they are changing in their new album Don’t look when I’m changing, something remains: energetic guitars, aggressive synths and expressive melodies.
So, are you looking forward to Povaleč? We are looking forward to seeing you all!
